Just a few of the pitchers around here. I'm in the process of repotting everything into square pots to maximize space, so nothing spectacular here at the moment. Most are recovering from being repotted which means mostly sulking for the next few weeks and doing nothing, followed by growing slowly for another few weeks after that. Not that many plants particularly like being disturbed and repotted, but Nepenthes
really dislike repotting.

Very cool Melody. I wish I had your collection of Nepenthes
ReplyDeleteThanks Michael, I wish I had your space to grow them in!
DeleteLOL, we all want what we can't have :)
DeleteOooh, I got some more Nepenthes on the weekend, it was the Qld Garden Expo, and I went straight to a carnivorous plant stall (the same/only company I can find to buy them from) and I bought 3 nepenthes (x hookeriana; ventricosa x hamata (or at least I think it's that one); and a baby ventricosa), as well as a heap of sarracnia and drosera :) I'll post photos of them soon :)
Great looking Neps Melody! They tempt me to get some ampullaria and set up another terrarium at work. Do you grow under lights or just outside?
ReplyDeleteThank you! I grew almost exclusively under lights for years when I lived in NY. Here I grow mostly outdoors now. There is about a 2 month span in the winter that the lowland Nepenthes may have to come inside and I'll set them up under my old light bank temporarily again. I have a small seedling terrarium at the moment under a set of T5's, but everything else is outside now. Ampullaria is one of my favorites, and not a bad candidate for a terrarium, I say go for it.
DeleteNow this is exciting! Finally someone in Oz who has a blog about carnivorous plants!
ReplyDeleteFor sure follow The Pitcher Plantation/John. His blog is a great source of information (and pretty pictures!), I should've put up a link to it sooner.
DeleteOh that N. veitchii is just gorgeous. Not too long ago I bought N. veitchii 'Golden Perisome.' Plant is still very small, about 10cm wide or so. Hopefully it will soon make as beautiful pitchers as your's.
ReplyDeleteAll veitchii's are stunning in my opinion. I haven't seen 'Golden Peristome' yet, so put up some pictures as soon as it makes one, it can't not be nice, it's a veitchii!
DeleteMesmo assim elas estão muito bem.

Thanks, they're adjusting!
