Haworthia reinwardtii blooming

I haven't had this guy for very long but I'm a fan. It's grown pretty well this summer and adjusted to it's spot outdoors in full sun without burning at all. I don't have a lot of patience for adjusting plants to different environments. I know this is bad, but I'd really rather have a few unsightly sunburn spots on something then spending weeks slowly moving it. I have no time or patience for more than a few adjustments, if I remember to do them before I just give up and put it somewhere.

It was raining today, but If I didn't get out there and take pictures today, it may not have happened at all this week.

The whole plant
Macro of the pattern on the leaves
The flower stalk is so long you can't get everything in focus at once.
Pretty little flowers
They don't open farther than this.
Also, I know some of you requested pictures from "Spider Town," I haven't forgotten, it is proving to difficult to get any decent shots of anything down there. The spiders all scramble into their hiding spots the second any light shines in their direction. Plus, I can't be down there for very long before I get the heebie-jeebies and I'm covered in spiderwebs and about to make a run for it. So I've been trying to get some shots of at least the above ground spiders and insects here, I'll add them in if I get anything good. Today was this guy:

Hi there!  : )
If you enlarge the picture, he/she totally has a smiley face on his/her abdomen. I'm not sure what kind of spider it is, but I'll come back and update the page if I am able to ID it.

  1. Cool looking plant Melody! Love the pattern on the leaves, and that's one impressive flower stalk, and if I owned it, it would've broken by now. Lol@ Spidertown! Still waiting, take a torch (to add to the spook factor). Oh man, that's the coolest looking spider ever!!! Looks just like Jack Skellington from the Nightmare Before Christmas don't you think? I want to keep it as a pet! Sorry mr. slug.

    1. I only moved it this once to take pictures without getting soaked, usually I won't move anything blooming for fear of breaking it (done that, it sucks.)

I wish the spiders down there would just sit still for a minute, but nope, no such luck. Just cellar spider pictures, none of the good big ones. I like this little spider too, sometimes you just have to look closely at nature otherwise you'll miss something good. It's been sitting there for days and I never really looked at it until today. I'll name him Jack, because who doesn't love The Nightmare Before Christmas?
The slug is not offended, one of his bros ate one of my new Bulbophyllum growths, so he understands. I like them, just nowhere near my plants.

    1. Thanks, lol, there's a smiley face in the slug too? I just had to go and look to see if slugs even have abdomens, I know pretty much nothing about mollusks!

    3. There's a smile on the slugs head as well, although if you flip the screen over, it looks like a glum alien.

    1. Too bad we're so far away, I'd send you a piece, but I don't think the shipping cost would be worth it. Plus I have no clue if there's any CITES restrictions on succulents?
